Terms of service

The rules for using seemy.beer and for subscribing to it. Plain English on purpose. If you disagree with any of it, please don’t use the service.

1. What seemy.beer is

Our product, seemy.beer, is a tap-sign display for PerfectDraft machines. It runs in one of three modes: Home Assistant (free), Manual (£3/mo) and Standalone (£5/mo).

It is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to PerfectDraft, or any brewery, brand or retailer referenced.

2. Who you are contracting with

This depends on where you are, and it is the most important thing on this page, so it is near the top rather than buried in the billing section.

  • In the United Kingdom, your contract is with Brett Jenkins, trading as TidyLabs, a sole trader of 52-56 Standard Road, London, NW10 6EU. We are the seller. Stripe processes the payment for us and your receipt is issued in the name of TidyLabs.
  • Everywhere else we sell, your contract for the purchase is with Stripe, who act as Merchant of Record and trade to you as Onelink. Stripe is the seller, issues your receipt, and collects and remits your country’s VAT or sales tax. Your purchase shows as “Sold through Onelink” and your bank statement will read LINK.COM*. Stripe’s terms govern that sale and your local consumer law applies to it. These terms still govern your use of the sign and the service itself.

We can only sell into countries PerfectDraft serves, because a seemy.beer sign bolts to a PerfectDraft machine and Standalone mode talks to PerfectDraft’s own service. Selling anywhere else would be selling you something you could not use.

3. Prices and VAT

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and do not include VAT. In the UK that is the whole story: we are not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay and nothing is added at checkout.

Outside the UK, Onelink converts the price into your local currency and adds your own country’s VAT or sales tax on top, so the total will be higher than the price on our pricing page. You will see the exact amount before you pay anything. We would rather you read that here than discover it at the payment step.

4. If our prices change

We may change our prices from time to time. If the price of a subscription you already have goes up, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. The new price applies from your next billing period after that notice, and never to a period you have already paid for.

You can cancel at any time before the change takes effect and you will not be charged the new price. If you do nothing, the new price applies from that period onwards. Where Onelink is your seller the notice reaches you the same way, and your right to cancel before it applies is the same.

This section is about the paid modes. Home Assistant mode is free and stays free, as we have said everywhere else.

5. Subscriptions & billing

  • Manual and Standalone are paid subscriptions, billed monthly.
  • Every paid mode includes a 14-day free trial, which begins when you subscribe. Card details are collected at checkout, but no payment is taken until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. One trial per sign.
  • Billing is per sign. A subscription attaches to one device via the code in that sign’s QR scan. It is not an account you log into, and it does not cover a second sign.
  • Because a subscription attaches to a specific sign, you start checkout from the sign itself rather than from this website.

6. Cancelling, and your refund rights

You can cancel at any time. If you bought from us, that is the billing portal linked from your receipt. If Onelink was the seller, it is link.com. Either way, access continues to the end of any period you have already paid for and you are not charged again.

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU you have 14 days from subscribing to cancel, and our 14-day trial is deliberately the same length as that window. Cancel inside it and you will not have paid anything, so there is nothing to refund and nothing to claim.

If you were somehow charged while still within that 14-day right, email [email protected] and we will refund you in full. Nothing in these terms takes away any statutory right you have.

Note that cancelling stops future payments. It does not by itself refund a period already paid for. If you think you are owed something, email us rather than assuming the cancel button has done it.

7. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • circumvent, tamper with or work around the licensing;
  • resell, sublicense or share access to a paid mode;
  • use the service to break the law, or to interfere with anyone else’s use of it;
  • hammer our systems, or PerfectDraft’s, with automated requests beyond what the sign does normally.

If you do, we may suspend or end the subscription. Where it is fair to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

8. Service reliability

A seemy.beer sign is designed never to go dark: a lapsed licence or a service outage degrades gracefully rather than bricking the device, and Standalone owners can fall back to Manual mode if the upstream PerfectDraft API changes.

That said, the service is provided on an “as is” basis without a warranty of uninterrupted availability, because part of it depends on third-party systems outside our control, including PerfectDraft’s own service, which we do not operate and cannot promise anything about. If we ever have to stop offering a paid mode we will give reasonable notice and stop billing you.

9. Limitation of liability

seemy.beer is a display for a beer machine. It is not a safety device, and nothing it shows (freshness, temperature, volume or anything else) should be relied on for anything that matters. Always check the machine itself.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If you are a UK consumer, that also includes your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that: we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you subscribed, and our total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to what you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and the date at the bottom changes when we do. If a change materially affects a paid subscription we will email you before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you don’t accept it. Price changes have their own notice period and their own cancellation right, set out in section 4 above.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring a claim there.

12. Contact

seemy.beer is a product of TidyLabs. TidyLabs and seemy.beer are trading names of Brett Jenkins, a sole trader, of 52-56 Standard Road, London, NW10 6EU. Email [email protected], or see our contact page.
